OADM CWDM-4

DWDM OADM Add/Drop Multiplexer is designed to organize the signal output at a selected wavelength from an optical line in the DWDM system. These devices are called Add/Drop modules (Optical Add Drop Multiplexer).

 

The OADM module, extracting the desired signal, passes the rest of the emission unchanged. These devices are completely passive elements, i.e. they require no power supply.

 

There are single-sided and dual-sided DWDM OADM modules.

 

To drop/add a signal into a line towards one multiplexer,single-sided OADM modules are used. Dual-sided devices allow to establish a connection with two multiplexers, and in such case resources of fiber-optic communication networks are used in full.

 

When using the hybrid system "CWDM + DWDM" must take into account differences in frequency plans CWDM and DWDM.
